In theory, Alternative Payment and CalWORKs Child Care Programs provide subsidies to cover all or part of the cost of child care for families with low incomes. In practice, there are more families eligible for subsidy assistance than there is money.
BUT don’t lose heart. R&R operates the Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) which is the eligibility list for child care payment assistance. When an R&R specialist determines you are eligible for subsidy assistance, you will get help completing the application and have your family placed on the CEL. The application process takes 1 to 2 weeks to complete. The list is not numerical, but based on need. If a subsidy comes available and you are the family determined by the State mandated guidelines to be most in need, R&R will contact you.
R&R is happy to help you complete the CEL application. While they determine your eligibility for subsidy assistance, they can also help you with referrals and applications for other programs.
- Many families eligible for child care subsidy are also eligible for other programs and R&R is your “one stop” for information and assistance.
