COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS
Shasta County has a number of community health centers that offer a range of health care services at no or low cost.
In addition to offering a range of health services, you can get help applying for many of the programs mentioned in this guide. When you make an appointment or go in for care, let them know you would like to talk to someone about programs that can help pay for coverage.
Because they provide an array of health services for children and adults, community health centers are a great choice for your “Medical Home.”
Why have a Medical Home?
Having a Medical Home insures that your family has a relationship with health care providers that will come to know your family's unique health care needs. Help build the relationship by:
- Bringing questions or concerns to discuss.
- Sharing information on how your child is changing (progressing, regressing, etc.).
- Asking about resources that may help your child and family.
- Asking about how to get care after hours .
- Asking to meet the office staff that will be working with you and your child (Nurses, referral coordinator, billing person, etc.).
