PROGRAMS FOR PARENTS

Medi-Cal

If you are working but have low income, you may be eligible for Medi-Cal. Besides income, Medi-Cal also looks at your family circumstances, so don’t assume you are not eligible based on income alone.

If you have insurance and very low income, Medi-Cal may even be able to pay some of your medical costs.

If you are generally healthy, you may not think that having Medi-Cal is important. However, preventive care is also important for adults. If you get sick or injured outside of work, having a Medi-Cal card will help you get the care you need without the worry of how to pay for it.

How do I apply?

Because the eligibility rules are complicated for adults, it is best to call Shasta County Department of Social Services at 245-6680 for a mail-in application and assistance in applying for Medi-Cal.

If you can not go in for an appointment, they can assist you over the phone.
