California Children’s Services
California Children Services (CCS) helps pay for medical care for eligible children who have serious medical problems including genetic diseases, chronic health problems, physical disabilities and major injuries and whose families have low incomes or have high medical expenses.
CCS covers diagnosis, treatment, and case management for eligible conditions. Although not all severe conditions are covered, CCS covers most conditions that need to be treated with medicines, surgery, rehabilitation or that are physically disabling.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for CCS your child must:
- Be less than 21 years of age
- Have or may have a CCS eligible condition
- Have family income under $40,000
If your family income is above $40,000,your child may still be eligible for CCS if:
- Your child is enrolled in no-cost Medi-Cal or Healthy Families.
- Your out-of-pocket medical expenses are more than 20% of family income.
- You adopted your child with a known CCS eligible condition.
- You need a doctor to diagnose a CCS eligible condition.
- You are only applying for Medical Therapy Program.

The Medical Therapy Program (MTP) provides physical and occupational therapy to CCS eligible children at public schools. Your child’s CCS provider will determine what kind of physical or occupational therapy your child will need.
